Use Sidekick to work with your contact list, horse list, schedule, and to create invoices and enter payments received.

The standard "hot-sync" process provided by your handheld device quickly updates data between the computer and the handheld, so both Forge Ahead and Sidekick contain the same information.

Contacts

• Contains all your Forge Ahead contacts: clients, stables, suppliers, vets, trainers, and farriers.
• Provides top 2 phone numbers for each contact, along with address and directions info.
• Displays account balance for each contact.
• Allows you to add new contacts and update information on existing contacts.

Horses

• Contains all information on horses on 3 screens:
• Screen 1: Horse name, owner, stable, Last Visit, Weeks Between Visits, Due Date, and Primary Use.
• Screen 2: Shoe types and Sizes, Pad Types, Hoof Angles and Lengths
• Screen 3: Vet, Trainer, Gender, Breed, Color, Age, Supplements
• Allows you to add new horses and update information on existing horses.
• Horse Notes: Contains all horse notes and allows you to enter new notes. (Does not include digital pictures linked to notes.)

Schedule

• Contains all Forge Ahead appointments from 3 months prior to hotsyncing, and all future appointments.
• Allows you to change and add appointments
• Provides a single-day view, week view, and 4-month view
• Includes appointment date, time, duration, location, tentative flag, and appointment note information. (Does not include horses scheduled per appointment.)

Invoices

• Allows you to create invoices in the field, to provide client with a total or simply to save time on the PC and ensure complete invoices.
• Based on Forge Ahead's "Quick Checklist" technique for fast data capture.
• Does not calculate sales tax charged. However, when invoices are hotsynced to PC, Forge Ahead will calculate sales tax on invoices created in Sidekick.
• Does not store invoice history; once new invoices are hotsynced to PC, they are removed from Sidekick.

Payments

• Allows you to capture payments received in the field.
• Payment information includes Pay Date, Client, Pay Amount, Pay Details, and Deposited flag.
• Does not store payment history; once new payments are hotsynced to PC, they are removed from Sidekick.

1. You must be using Forge Ahead on a PC that also has the Palm Desktop software. (This would have been included with your handheld device.)
2. This PC must also be connected to your handheld's hotsync cradle.
3. You must have a handheld device running Palm Operating System, (Palm OS) version 3.0 or higher.
   • In addition to Palm, many manufacturers (such as Sony, IBM) make devices using the Palm OS.
   • Until recently, all Palm devices used the Palm OS. However, in the Spring of 2006 Palm introduced the Treo 700w Smartphone. This device runs on the Windows Mobile platform, and is not compatible with Sidekick.
   • Operating systems other than Palm which are not compatible with Sidekick include PocketPC, Windows Mobile, and Blackberry.

• Sidekick - International is available to work with the Forge Ahead - International program for the PC. Includes all features above, but has been modified for flexible address and phone numbers, as well as currency and date formats.
